A little Update

Nifty! Deepest Sender can now be used with Blogger. Maybe now I'll post more! Tehe.

Not much of note has been happening. I've been completely out of the loop when it comes to political hub-bub. (Though there was something about a hunting accident..?)

I'm entirely disgusted with all the major news sources in the US. I watched some Chinese news (we have an English Chinese channel) and was pleasently surprised! Do you know the Chinese actually REPORT news? They don't do editorials. They just report what's going on. No bias (except concerning their own government).

It was so refreshing. No attempts to keep my interest, or entertain me. Just solid reporting.

Lord, the US, Americas, and Europe really needs that type of reporting!

In other news, I finally earned enough to buy a laptop. I got it from Discount Laptops. My laptop looks like this, and it's called the Asus Z70Va (or Chembook 2370Va at this site).

I know you're wondering why I'd go and buy a laptop from a company with a name like that (sounds shifty). But actually, it got incredibly high ratings at places like ResellerRatings. Compare that to Dell.

I could have bought something from my BX. But honestly, they have a crappy selection. It's almost entirely Sony and HP. Sony is expensive and HP can be questionable when it comes to quality.

The specs for my laptop are as follows:

15.4" WSXGA (1680x1050) Wide -Screen Active Matrix Display
1.86 GHz Intel Pentium-M (750) Processor (Sonoma / 2 MB L2 Cache / 533 FSB)
Upgrade to Artic Silver 5 (AS5) Thermal Cooling CPU Compund Paste
128 MB Dedicated DDR2 - Ati Radeon X700 PCI-Express Video Card
1 GB DDR2 (533 MHz) CORSAIR Memory (1 GB x 1)
100 GB Hard Drive (5400 RPM)
8X DVD / 24x10x24 CD-RW Combo Drive w/ Software
Internal 56k Modem
Internal IntelPRO 2915ABG Wireless Ethernet/Lan (802.11 a+b+g)
Internal Bluetooth Wireless Card
8-cell Smart Lithium Ion Battery
Built-in 4-in-1 card reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS PRO)
S-video out, 4 USB (2.0), 1 PCMCIA, IR, IEEE Firewire
10/100/1000 BaseT Ethernet LAN Port
AC Adapter w/ power cord
Free Deluxe Carry Case
MS Windows XP-Home Installed, CD Included
2 yr ChemUSA warranty w/ 1-way paid shipping
1-year limited on-site extended warranty
1-Year Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) for entire system

I actually got to customize most of the laptop. It was really nice! Minus the extended warrenties and shipping (which cost about 150$ & 74$), the laptop came out about 1,620$. I think that's a very comfortable price for a mid-range gaming laptop, don't you?

I'm really nervous, since this is almost 4 months of paychecks. I'm really hoping the machine itself is a good quality (occasionally duds get sent) and that it makes it over here alright (because it's a looong trip over).

Speaking of paychecks, I'll probably quit my job by the end of the month. I'm honestly tired of it. Most of the people I work with are good, and the job is alright, but it's honestly not worth it. Customer Service is not one of those places I wanna stay for long.

Plus I'd like to do other things. I generally don't like taking risks, and getting a job was a risk. But I took it and did moderately well. That's a wonderful feeling. So I'm thinking about the other risks over the last two years I've refused to take... What would happen if I did them? Maybe I'd find out I'm good at, or at least enjoy, them.

But my job doesn't really give me much of a chance to take any other risks. I feel that to continue to grow, I need to move on. And that means quitting.

I'll miss the money though. And a few smiling faces at work. But that's about it. I guess that's better than some. ^^;

And that's all for now. ;)
